“Keeping It Close to Home – Why Hiring a Local Real Estate Agent Is Your Best Bet”

February 6, 2020

You’re thinking of selling your home or buying a house.  While this can be an exciting time, there is a lot of stress involved as well – we all know that.

One of the ways you can reduce some of that stress is to hire a local real estate agent, and here are some reasons why:

Extensive knowledge of the local market – a local real estate agent knows the turf because they work in it every day and they know the area inside and out, which will lead to quicker results.  They know the best neighborhoods, schools and amenities and can point you in the right direction if you are buying, so make sure you express your wants and needs to your local agent.  Conversely, if you are selling your house, they’ll know the average market price and the trends, most likely right off the tip of their tongue!

Benefits of local networking – you’ve heard the saying, “It’s not what you know, it’s who you know.”  Sometimes, the “who” you know can work magic when trying to sell your house.  Your local agent networks all the time with other real estate agents in the area, so they will have a better sense of who is buying and what those buyers are looking for.  They also have knowledge of reputable local contractors and other useful contacts who can help you with your home, before and after the sales’ process.

Local agents live where they work – if you are buying a home, especially if it’s in a new area you are not too familiar with, a local real estate agent will help educate you on the various neighborhoods, employers, schools and many other gold nuggets of information.  A good agent will take the time to get to know their client and what they want – not just within the four walls of a house.  Ascertaining a buyer’s wants and needs guides the local agent into helping the perspective buyer learn more about the area and where they can find a comfortable living niche.  A local agent is a plethora of helpful information!

Won’t you be my neighbor? – a local real estate agent has a vested interest in helping you sell your home, because whether they literally live next door to you or not, you will be neighbors in the same wider community.  Once you sell your house, your local agent may appreciate any referrals you can give them in the future.  Reciprocally, there’s a better chance your local agent will keep in touch with you after the sales’ process, and you can also reach out to them with any further needs.

More face-to-face contact with your local agent – you will be able to meet with your agent in person more often, and the close proximity of your local agent enables them in helping you display your home in the best light for when prospective buyers come to view it.  If you are buying a house, a local agent can quickly set up appointments for you to see other homes – a lot of the time within the same day!  Meeting up with your local agent decreases the chances of miscommunication which can sometimes arise through texts and phone calls.

With all that’s involved in moving, wouldn’t it be great to know that your real estate agent has your best interest, knows the area to a T and won’t vanish the second your transaction is complete?  Hiring a local real estate agent ensures that and so much more!
